To be completely up front and honest, we’ve been told by a few people that we are not the cheapest Landscape company in Lethbridge, and this is true. We believe that the key to a lasting landscape is attention to detail, the proper foundation, and quality workmanship. We do not cut corners and we do not use cheap material. When comparing estimates it’s important to make sure you are asking questions about the type/quality of material contractors are supplying and what type of follow up care they offer.

In-depth information about services.
Paving Stone Installations and Repairs
The most important part of any paving stone sidewalk, patio, or driveway is the foundation/base. Our paving stone installs pay extra attention to our foundation. Typically we pull up about 8 to 10 inches of the soil out of the area of where the install is to be. After the area is cleared, we add 4 to 6 inches of crushed gravel and pack it very, very well. Good packing of the crush minimizes sinking of the paving stone after installation. Once the crush is prepped and the ground is firm, we add one inch of sand and make sure it is leveled. The paving stone are then placed on the prepared area and followed by a 3 step process with Polymeric sand in the cracks between the stones. Polymeric sand essentially turns into a flexible cement once through the 3 step process, helping to prevent weeds and ants.
The most important part of a sod installation is the base. You do not want your grass to be lumpy, bumpy, and on a bed of rocks. We start out right by removing your previous sod and about 4 inches of dirt. We replace that with 3-4 inches of good quality top soil. Our team spends the majority of their time prepping the work site by smoothly leveling the soil with a landscape rake and taking special care to not step all over the freshly raked soil. Once the new top soil is smooth and even they begin laying sod until the full area is freshly sodded. After the sod has been installed they apply fertilizer and use a landscape roller full of water to smooth out the sod and edges.
Underground Sprinkler Installation
Whenever possible, for existing lawns, we use a vibrator plow to install underground sprinklers. The vibrator plow is best for existing lawns as it will only take a few weeks for the seams to reconnect and repair, as opposed to a trencher. The vibrator plow essentially has a large knife on the front of it that the poly hose is attached to. When the vibrator plow is turned on that knife in the front pushes down and ‘cut’s a path through your grass, pulling the hose along with it. We manually dig out the area for the irrigation heads but we try our best to cut out the circle of lawn so that it can be placed back, with minimal damage. If any plumbing work needs to be done inside your house we use a certified plumber. We prefer to use all Hunter products and the sprinklers generally used are MP Rotator as they are the most water efficient.
For new home builds and homes with no current sod we use a trencher to lay our lines down, this does not affect the look of the sod after it’s installed. In some special cases it may be best to use a trencher on an existing lawn, we would work with you in these cases for the best possible outcome for your turf.
We also have experience creating watering systems for gardens, as well as, drip line systems for flower beds, planters, and more.
We also recommend installing a Solar Sync Weather Sensor with your irrigation. This is an advanced weather sensor that can adjust Hunter controllers daily based on weather conditions at your property. The sensor measures sunlight and temperature, as well as evapotranspiration, to send an adjustment percentage to your controller. This means your controller can calculate the best run time for your lawn, based on the current weather, so you don’t waste water if your lawn doesn’t need it.
Xeriscaping or Natural Landscaping
Many people are moving toward maintenance free and drought tolerant landscapes. This frees up your time, while reducing watering and maintenance expenses throughout the year.
There are many different ways to create a more natural landscape for your home, we work on emphasizing plants that are appropriate to Southern Albertas local climate and incorporating other natural elements such as stone, rock, and boulders. You can still have a beautiful backyard without a vast expanse of sod.
Deck, Fences, and Planters
The bottom line in getting a long standing fence or deck is a good foundation and quality materials. The most cost efficient, best looking, and longest lasting fence is boxed steel posts that are reinforced in the ground with concrete and typically finished with either pressure treated or cedar in a ‘Good Neighbor’ style. A good neighbor fence is a wood fence where the finished side faces the neighbors property and the homeowner would have the view of the rails or stringers. When constructing we run a top, bottom, and a middle stringer to ensure proper stability. We can finish with top caps or not.
We also have experience with horizontal fencing and other styles of fencing and are more than willing to work with you to create the fence you’re looking for.
Decks are built dependent on what the client is looking for but we also recommend using pressure treated or cedar wood. We have also worked with Trex Composite Decking.
We will work with you for all of your concrete needs, such as fence lines, sidewalks, driveways, or patios. We start with a proper foundation, making sure your concrete lasts.
